Part-time, home-based Clerk to Governors for schools

Syzygy Clerking Services provides a high-quality clerking service to school, academy and trust governing bodies. We are a growing company and we are seeking experienced administrators in your area to join our professional clerking team. Previous clerking experience is an advantage, but not necessary as training and support will be provided.
The role:
Our clerks don’t just take minutes. They advise, guide and provide support to governing bodies and their committees. You will need the right skills to be able to provide the excellent service that we demand.
We’ll assign you to governing bodies – you can choose how many to take on – to work as part of their governance team during school term-time. You may also cover for absent colleagues.
You’ll attend and minute meetings for each governing body you take on. Meetings may last up to 3 hours and are mainly in the evening, but you will prepare and follow-up from home. For each meeting, you’ll also provide full administrative support and advice on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

Essential requirements:

First class literacy
Good people management skills
Confidence to work at board level and offer advice
Ability to quickly understand and assimilate information
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Willingness to undertake training
Experience of maintaining and manipulating digital/hard copy information.
Write accurately and concisely, and have first class literacy
Be digitally savvy and confident in using email and document software
Be on time and keep deadlines
Ability to work in a team and on your own initiative
Flexibility in working arrangements and practices
Permanent email and internet access
Transport and clean driving licence

Experience of maintaining and manipulating digital/hard copy information.
Experience of attending and minuting meetings and working in a school environment
Knowledge of Governing body procedures.

You’ll be paid for each meeting you attend, to include all administrative support and advice required both before and after the meeting.
Travel expenses are paid in addition.
Training, mentor support and CPD.
