Our client, a well established and award-winning international road transport service provider is looking for an Operations/Project Manager to head up a brand new project; managing the conversion process of EPLS vehicles.


- Plan, control and manage all EPLS Conversions at the companies Manchester Site, including logistics and paint/wax work carried out by sub-contractors, in line with the Project Schedule.
- Ensure that each conversion is carried out by the methods and to the standards required in the Conversion Manual and Inspection Sheets, which are provided by the Design Authority.
- Plan and manage the resources required for the project, including manpower, space, equipment and consumables.
- Manage the receipt and storage on site of conversion kits, ILHS assemblies and vehicles. Similarly, manage the storage and disposal of displaced parts.
- Support the EPLS Project Manager in the provision of regular reports to the MoD on all aspects of the Conversion Project and particularly on performance against the Project Schedule, vehicle defects identified and any issues that evolve. Attend meetings as required and present the requested data.
- Supervision and management of all subcontractors used on the project.
- Supervision and management of Quality Assurance, in line with the Project Plan, implementation of agreed processes, in-process inspections, testing and final inspections.
- Managing any corrective or preventive actions required.
- Maintain the security of the site and particularly the security of all MoD assets, including those in transit, as defined in the Security Plan for the project. Keep accurate records of all MoD assets on site and any security issues encountered.
- To provide information, maintain records and carry out all duties in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
- To undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required.
- To enhance the image and reputation of the Company, whilst supporting its contractual interests.
- To comply with good health and safety practice, all statutory environmental requirements, company policies and company procedures.

Required Experience/Competencies:

- Knowledge on all aspects of workshop operations within a commercial vehicle organisation.
- Understanding and use of Microsoft Project, Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Full understanding of organizational processes and procedures.
- Experience in running a production process of an organization at a senior level.
- Good communicator within own team and with external parties, suppliers, sub-contractors, customers and audit teams.
- Must be able to pass a security vetting by the UK MoD.
- Must have run a commercial vehicle workshop.
- Must have good IT skills and ideally have implemented a production/project-based system.
- Must have managed a team of production technicians against a fixed time project.

As well as the above, a working knowledge of the below is needed:

- Technical specifications of commercial vehicles.
- Repair and engineering practices for commercial vehicles.
- Workshop planning.
- Quality Systems.
- Inspection and Testing.


40 per week

28 per annum
