JOB DESCRIPTION
Trainee Installation and Service Engineer (078jc) – Whiteley, Hampshire – circa £20k to start

My client, an established and rapidly expanding total security service provider are now seeking an additional Trainee Installation and Service Engineer to join their expanding team due to client base expansion.

You will be reporting to the General and Engineering Manager and your role will be to eventually within a very short space of time to become a fully qualified field engineer, once you have completed your in-house product training.

Initially you will be working from the Whiteley site, working alongside an experienced engineer in learning all aspects of the trade and once you have been assessed as proficient your role will be to:
 Fitting and installation of Intruder Alarms, Access Systems, CCTV and associated products as per specification.
 Repairing faulty security systems.
 Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace and/or vehicle.
 Maintaining an appropriate level of stock in vehicles, ensuring that all unused stock items are returned to the company to be restocked as appropriate and that van stock is replenished where necessary.
 Hand invoice to customer on arrival
 Completing all necessary paperwork, obtaining client signatures and payment where necessary.
 Liaise with office re collection of payment
 Notifying the Engineering Manager or Office or other superior if specification/equipment is incorrect or there are any potential problems.
 Being available for 24 hour call out on a rota system maintained and organised by the Operations Manager.
 Supervising and training Trainee Engineers.
 Advise office by telephone of outstanding work.
 Completed paperwork in “completed new installations” job tray within 24 hours.
 Inform the office of any changes to the specification, via in-house IT system.

The ideal candidate would be someone who has an IT/electronics background, with knowledge of fibre cables and basic systems programming experience who is seeking to develop into a new career in this sector. A full drivers licence will also be a must, because once you have been deemed cleared to work on your own, you will have a company van to use to get round your various client sites.

Initially they are offering a starting salary circa £20k as well as all the usual benefits, however once you have gained a level of competence, your salary will increase as you gain more experience and knowledge to circa £30k +, and their best engineers earn significantly beyond that.
