JOB DESCRIPTION
Avionic Chief Engineer Profile Requirements

Working in a close-knit team environment, the Avionics Chief Engineer will provide support to both the design team as a whole and to the Head of Design. The Avionics Chief Engineer will be suitably experienced to be appointed as a company Compliance Verification Engineer signatory for avionic and electrical design, and will possess the maturity and competence to execute these duties within the limits of experience and knowledge.
As an integral part of the design organisation and Office of Airworthiness, you will be a flexible team member, and willing to combine both work level design activities and Compliance Verification Engineer responsibilities.
The Chief Engineer will be required to support the Management functions of the company by providing input to quotes and contractual documentation, as well as technical management reporting for the avionic and electrical section.
The Chief Engineer role demands a high level of integrity and you will have a strong sense of responsibility and pride in both your work and the work of the team.

Desired Skills and Experience.
The position of the Chief Engineer has the following responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction to personnel.
• Day to day management of the project workload and progress reports.
• Customer liaison.
• CAA/EASA point of contact.
• Preparing estimates and quotes.
• Approval of certification plans and records.
• Classification of projects IAW EASA guidelines (21.A.91 & 101)
• Approval of system safety and equipment assessments.
• Technical reviews of design projects.
• Completion of Aircraft surveys.
• Personnel assessments and performance reviews.
• Preparation, checking and/or approval of project design and certification documents, including
• EWIS/EZAP.
• MAA DAOS Avionic/Electrical Design signatory.

The position of the Chief Engineer has the following educational profile and key attributes:

• Strong background in avionics and electrical systems (experience with Interior lighting, IFE, flight and navigation systems is desirable)
• Previous experience in a similar role as a CVE signatory for avionics and electrical systems.
• Experience mentoring and providing technical leadership to small teams in a design office environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to liaise directly with customers at a technical level.
• EASA Part 21J and MAA DAOS approval knowledge.
• Relevant technical qualifications including an apprenticeship, further educational qualifications such as a degree, or specific training with appropriate discipline specific knowledge.
• A minimum of five years’ experience within the relevant design engineering subject/discipline.
• Computer literate (conversant with MS Office software such as Word or Excel, and AutoCAD computer aided design software), and familiar with EASA, CAA and FAA websites.
• Thorough methodical approach to design activities and exceptional attention to detail.
• Be able to provide evidence of previous active participation in design and design certification processes, and component or equipment development and qualification programmes.
• Attain a satisfactory knowledge of our Clients Design Organisation Handbook, company procedures and design standards.

The salary scale for the above position is negotiable dependent upon experience.
